15 Weirdest Work Stories of 2007

By Rachel Zupek, CareerBuilder.com writer

Natural disasters, revolutionary technology, pro-athlete scandals and national calamities marked 2007 as an unforgettable year. Yet, amid these major happenings arose stories that were overlooked, unseen or ignored altogether: tales of our nation’s work force.

Understandably, these pieces weren’t as newsworthy as Michael Vick’s dog fighting charges or Paris Hilton going to jail. But these stories held an angle unlike any other: They were just plain weird.

Here are 15 headlines that exemplify the strange happenings that took place in the workplace in 2007.

1. “Employee eats 32 vending machine items for charity”
A juvenile probation officer ate one of every item in a county courthouse vending machine in one day. She consumed more than 7,000 calories and more than 300 grams of fat, eating such items as beef sticks, candy bars, Pop Tarts and potato chips – all to win a bet with co-workers and raise $300 for charity.

2. “Cola wars get physical as Pepsi worker attacks Coke employee”
Two employees from the rival companies got into a tiff over shelf space in the aisle of a Wal-Mart in Indiana. The Pepsi worker allegedly assaulted the Coca-Cola employee, hitting him in the face, giving him a black eye and breaking his nose. Police say the two were also accused of trying to run each other over with pallets full of soda bottles.

3. “Alleged robber asks victim out for date”
After two men robbed a Domino’s Pizza delivery woman, one of them called the victim from his cell phone to apologize – and to ask her out.

4. “Four women fired for gossiping”
Four women employed in a small New Hampshire town were fired for gossiping about a relationship between the town administrator and a fellow co-worker. They were fired on the basis that “gossip, whispering and an unfriendly environment are causing poor morale and interfering with the efficient performance of town business.”

5. “Eau de Lawsuit: Woman sues over scent”
An employee in the Detroit planning department sued the city, saying a female co-worker’s strong fragrance prohibited her from working. The woman claimed she is severely sensitive to perfumes and her co-worker not only wore a strong scent, but also plugged in a scented room deodorizer.

6. “Salt lands McDonald’s employee in jail”
A McDonald’s employee was arrested, jailed and is facing criminal charges because a police officer got sick after a hamburger he ate was too salty. The employee accidentally spilled salt on some hamburger meat and told her supervisor and co-worker, who “tried to thump the salt off.” The employee was charged because she served the burger “without regards to the well-being of anyone who might consume it.”

7. “Carpenter free to ply trade in the nude”
A carpenter caught hammering nails and sawing wood in the nude says he prefers working in the buff because it’s more comfortable and helps keep his clothes clean. The carpenter was found not guilty of indecent exposure.

8. “Southwest Airlines employee tells passenger her outfit won’t fly”
A Southwest employee asked a young woman in a short skirt to leave the airplane, saying she was dressed too provocatively for the family airline. The young woman was eventually allowed to complete her trip after covering up. On her return flight, she came home with no problem – in the same outfit.

9. “Employee accused of faking being cop”
A Taco Bell employee was arrested for impersonating a law enforcement officer and attempting to arrest his managers and co-worker. He passed himself off as an undercover narcotics investigator, going as far as typing fake criminal histories on the general manager, two shift managers and an employee and telling them they were going to be arrested.

10. “Employee took 1 million screws home from factory”
An assembly worker hid screws in a specially designed hiding place and took up to 7,000 home with him every day. Over a two-year period, he stole more than 1.1 million screws with an estimated value of $155,000. He allegedly sold the screws over the Internet at discount prices.

11. “Deputy nabbed twice for DUI – by husband”
An off-duty jail deputy was pulled over and charged with driving under the influence – by her husband, a fellow deputy. She supposedly left before he could give her a Breathalyzer test, so he pulled her over again and called for backup. She was placed on administrative leave.

12. “Workers killed after seeking raises”
A car dealership owner killed two employees because they kept asking for more pay. The employer told police he was having financial problems and was under a lot of stress.

13. “Man demands coupons from radio station employee”
A radio station employee was threatened at gunpoint when an angry patron was unhappy with the promotional bumper stickers he received. The patron demanded McDonald’s coupons instead; when the employee didn’t have any, the man flashed what looked like a handgun. She searched her car and found a coupon for a free cheeseburger. The man took it, made a derogatory comment about the radio station and rode away on his bike.

14. “Wienermobile gets cop roasted”
When a 27-foot-long, 11-foot-tall vehicle – known to most as the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile – was slowing traffic in a construction zone in Arizona, an officer ran its “YUMMY” license plate to make sure it was street legal. A bad computer entry erroneously showed the Wienermobile as having stolen plates, forcing the officer to pull it over. After further investigation, the officer learned that the entry should have read that license plate had been stolen – but only if found on any vehicle that isn’t a giant hot dog.

15. “Drive-through dispute gets suspect jail food”
Workers at a Burger King in New York got into a dispute with a customer after he refused to turn his music down while ordering at the drive-through. The customer grabbed the restaurant’s manager, tried to pull her through a window and then attempted to run over a worker who came to help the manager.

Marketing Illustration And Art Online

By Paul M Featherstone

There are literally thousands of people in the world who have a talent for art and illustration, unfortunately we will never get to enjoy the work produced by these people as they may not be marketing their skills successfully.

Many artists and illustrators I know have cupboards full of work of high quality which could be generating an income and raising their profile. As well as this it is surely the point of art to be enjoyed by people otherwise the motivation for production can only be to satisfy personal pleasures.

One of the most important and cost effective methods of marketing your work in by harnessing the power of the web, it offers large-scale reach for very limited cost.

Online marketing of illustration and art still required fundamentals of marketing to be considered - ask yourself the question "who is my target audience" and "how can I reach them with my message?". Next consider the marketing mix - Product, Price, Place and Promotion and how you will use the tools of Internet promotion to promote your work.

In this article I will concentrate on promotion via the web as even with a limited understanding of marketing getting this part of the marketing mix right can bring quick rewards.

The first point for consideration should be the creation of a website, whether it's a few pages created by a friend who has some technical knowledge or a fully functioning eCommerce site this element is crucial to your online success. You will need to choose a name for your website that is relevant, for example if you are an illustrator who produces illustration for children's books then consider names such as "childrens-illustrator". Thought put into the choice of website name will reap rewards later through high search engine rankings.

Secondly, start a blog, there are hundreds of free blog facilities available where illustrators and artists can discuss their work and also benefit from promoting what the do at the same time.
There is an added benefit with use of blogs as search engines also like to see other sites linking to your website.

Thirdly, list your website with as many free directory and listing sites as you can in order to keep the volume of exposure high. As well as attracting traffic (i.e. visitors) to your website it will also assist with your search engine rankings in the same manor as your blog.

Fourthly, don't forget about offline promotion - quote your website and blog addresses on your marketing literature, business cards etc so as to create maximum synergy between all of your promotional efforts.

Fifthly, harness the power of eZine sites such as this, by sharing knowledge on your specialist subject you are not only promoting what you are good at but are also building a reputation as a trusted source of information in your field on the web.

Step six, speak to other artists and illustrators about sharing links for each other sites, this practise is known as reciprocal linking and as well as being good for, you guessed it, the search engine rankings, it is also a great way to network and gain word of mouth promotion.

Finally, consider publicising your illustration or art through use e-mail communications. Simple e-mail-shots can be sent from software such as MS Outlook or Thunderbird mail. If you want to use a system that is a little more sophisticated (i.e. it offers more advanced tracking for response and opening statistics) then why not try a service like Constant Contact. This supplier offers free e-mail broadcast for small quantity mail outs, perfect if you are new to e-mail marketing and want to try your hand.

E-mail communications are a very effective way of staying in touch with your target audience and can be used to promote a wide range of subjects from a new exhibition to current art or illustration projects.

So what's stopping you, promote your illustration and art on the web today!

Paul Featherstone is a London based illustrator, artist and web designer with a love of all things online. Paul produces unique illustration and art as well as being a practicing marketer and e-marketing anorak.

See What Google Adword Tracking Tool Can Do For You!

By Mark Edelson

Adwords are ordinary English words that have become special triggers to allow a website to appear when they are entered into a search engine, such as Google. Understandably, the use of such a powerful word is sought after strenuously. Google has come up with an ingenious method of determining the use of these words. They offer the advertisers an auction opportunity. If a common word, such as advertising, were sought by several thousand website owners, there would be chaos. By auctioning this word to the highest bidders, who would get the best search engine spots, Google can create a little order in the process. They have developed a program to help, the Google Adword tracking tool.

Google charges by the traffic, the clicks, that this word brings to the advertiser's website. If you are a high bidder on this Adword, you would get a spot close to the top of the responses that appear when it is typed into the 'search' bar. By being close to the top, it is much more likely that a searcher would click on that website rather than scrolling down a hundred or more other offerings. Sometimes, if the word is very common, there could be over 10 thousand websites presented to them. No one is patient enough to wade down through 1,000 sites, let alone 10 times that much. It would be best to be one of the top 10 or 15 websites if you hope to recoup any advertising money.

Advertisers want to have some solid information on the results of the use of their money for the Adword. Google has developed some very complex analytical programs to provide a lot of specific information to the advertiser. The analytical information is provided by a program called an Adwords tracking tool. The Adwords tracking tool will provide in just a few seconds the number of hits, those actually clicking on their website. Since each response (click) can cost the advertiser anywhere from 1 penny to $50.00, they get very serious.

With the Adword tracking tool, Google can provide the advertiser with how long a searcher stays on their site, whether or not they purchase anything, which adwords bring better results, and how much the Adword costs in relationship to the sales it generates. Google can also supply a list of Adwords likely to generate traffic and ones that are very weak. All of this data is obtained from the cookies that Google plants on the individual computers, without the searcher's knowledge. While not very popular with most people, cookies are not illegal either. Cookies are very important to the operation of the internet. Without the information that Google is able to glean from their cookies, much less would be known about effective advertising on the web and most advertisers would waste a much larger portion of their budget.

This short explanation of the Adword tracking tool offered by Google was simplified and shortened. There is so much more to be learned that it would require a small book to get all the details in.

Internet Dating Online - Don't Make These 3 Mistakes

By Daryl Campbell

To say that online dating is changing the relationship process is an understatement. While no one believes that it will completely replace the offline meeting places of bars, nightclubs and everyday environments, the benefits of internet dating online are quickly surpassing the traditional dating rituals. From the privacy of your own computer, you can specify the exact type of person you are looking for, get a plethora of individuals to choose from and chat extensively to find out if the two of you have compatibility. If not then you move on the next one. All without having to buy more drinks or waste gas.

Is it really possible to find that special someone? According to Online Dating Magazine there are now over 120,000 marriages per year that are a direct result of online dating. If you are looking for a long term relationship, dating online can be a terrific resource. However like anything else, it must be used properly. That is why you must do your best to avoid the following mistakes:

1. Insistence
You are anxious to meet the other person. They on the other hand are taking it a bit more slowly. While it is possible to find a happy median, being too aggressive is not the way to go. It can come across as obnoxious and scary. Insistence on arranging a face to face meeting may cause the other person's alarm to go off. In turn, they might come to the conclusion that it is better to be safe than sorry and cutoff all contact with you. Play it smart and be patient.

2. Perfection...NOT!
The word perfection should only apply to taking an exam. When it comes to relationships there is no such thing, No matter how long or hard someone tries to get something perfect it will never happen. You do the best you can and move on. If you expect perfection out of your self you are going to run into occasional disappointments but expecting flawlessness from a potential online dating partner is a formula for disaster. The other person is not going to answer all of your questions exactly like you want them to because there is no such thing as one hundred percent compatibility. Expecting perfection is not realistic and you are only setting yourself up for a failure if you want to go that route. Online or off you must be ready to accept the humanity of the other person and that includes their difference of opinion on certain topics.

3. Lying
No matter how small or insignificant you consider it, lying is still lying and trying to build a relationship on it spells trouble. Yes you want to make your dating profile and your online chats interesting but you can do that without deceiving the other person. One of the great positives and negatives of online dating is the anonymity it provides. Some people have taken that to mean they can exaggerate or tell a blatant falsehood when it suits them. Guess what? In the overwhelming majority of cases, the truth always comes out. So be straight with the other person. After all, you would not be thrilled if you found out they were also lying.

Online dating has so much to offer and it can be lot of fun as long as you keep certain things in mind. Stay away from being overly aggressive, expecting perfection from the other person (and yourself) and lying about who you really are. Keep these things in mind and just maybe you will find that special someone in cyber space.

Don't Be Your Child's Puppet

By Bob Lancer

Do you have a child who presses your buttons and pulls your strings, a child who makes demands for the pleasure of feeling in control over you, dominating your every move? Do you habitually give-in, give help, give attention without rhyme or reason? The more you cater to your child's manipulation tactics, the more that child depends on others to do too much for him, and the more fatigued, frustrated and out of control you feel.

To remedy this situation, you simply have to practice paying closer attention to what you are doing, saying, thinking and feeling in reaction to your child's actions. Your unconscious, automatic reaction habits set you up for puppet-like conduct, under the control of your puppet-master child. You have to first notice what you are doing to change what you are doing.

From self-awareness you can move into self-control. Do this by deliberately pausing before you respond to your child. You can make this into a habit by practicing it. When your child makes a demand or request, or when he behaves in a manner that triggers your reaction, intentionally pause before saying or doing anything in response. Just pause to observe for a moment or two.

During that pause you can determine if your child is expressing a real need or demonstrating a false manipulation tactic. A real need really does warrant your cooperation. A false manipulation tactic is something children engage in for the pleasure of feeling in control. When you cooperate with a false manipulation tactic, you end up feeling drained and perhaps even humiliated as you act as your child's lackey. There is only so much of this you can take before you end up losing your patience and perhaps even blow up in a temperamental outburst that you later regret.

When you meet a child's legitimate need you support the child's development of healthy, happy, responsible self-reliance. When you fall for a manipulation tactic, you actually weaken the child's character and contribute to her development of overly dependent personality traits. You also teach your child that it is okay to take advantage of others and to treat them with disregard for their best interests. The more successful a child is at manipulating you, the more respect she loses for you, and the more respect you lose for yourself.

When you catch your child in the act of manipulation, don't resent him for it. Relate to it as normal, natural testing. Children do not instinctively know their appropriate, responsible boundaries in relationships. We need to teach them these first and foremost by demonstration. As you demonstrate respect for yourself and for your child, your child automatically learns to relate respectfully with others and with himself.

When you fall for a manipulation tactic you demonstrate your lack of self-respect and your own weakness in the area of relationships. You have responsibility for recognizing when you are giving or doing too much. The better you are at establishing healthy, appropriate boundaries relative to what you will and will not do for your child, the sooner your child learns to adapt to and demonstrate respect for those boundaries.

Let's say that your four-year-old complains that he is thirsty. Your old, automatic habit might be to jump up and f etch him something to drink. If you practice your new mode of placing a conscious pause before responding, you may notice a manipulation tactic at work. You can then respond by kindly directing your child to meet his own need which he is perfectly capable of doing.

Being your child's puppet involves two things: your child can press your buttons and she can pull your strings. Whenever your child causes you to automatically react to his behavior, you are acting like your child's puppet and encouraging your child to continue treating you as his puppet.
Your child presses your buttons whenever he causes you to react with anger, frustration, impatience, stress, anxiety. He presses your buttons when he can get you to yell, nag, argue, engage in a power-struggle with him. He pulls your strings when he gets you to do things for him that he is better off doing for himself or better off doing without.

As you practice pausing for a moment of conscious observation before reacting to your child's behavior, you will find your better parental judgment coming to your aid (and to your child's aid as well). You will be more able to see, sense, feel, know, intuit the appropriate response, including recognizing when no response at all is called for. When your siblings squabble, when your little one whines, when your teen lets you down, when your children dawdle on a school-day morning... whatever the challenge, pausing before you react can save you from doing too much for no good reason.

Don't Defeat Yourself With Emotional Manipulation

By Bob Lancer

When you use feelings of disappointment to manipulate someone into giving you your way, you program yourself to relate with your experience as a defeat. This costs you your freedom.

There is really nothing wrong with your situation. The present offers you every opportunity. But you bind yourself to disappointment when you express yourself as a victim of your circumstances.

You imagine your condition as a loss when you engage the sorrow of sacrifice and martyrdom. In the act of trying to convince another that he or she is taking unfair advantage of your kindness and generosity, you convince yourself right out of the total freedom offered to you in the now.

It is tempting to use pitiful feelings of disappointment and victimization to subtly coerce others into making more of a sacrifice for us. If we can make them feel guilty enough, they may just realize that they can take no pleasure in denying us of what we want, and that may cause them to surrender their free will for our happiness.

The price we pay for this may be too subtle for us to recognize, even though it takes such a heavy toll on the quality of our lives and relationships. Only by practicing the act of looking within to examine your thoughts and feelings do you gradually awaken to such subtle manipulation games that cost you your integrity, your self-respect, your happiness, your mutually supportive relationships.

You use negative emotion to manipulate others when you express disappointment, disapproval, dissatisfaction over the choices they make. You use your unhappiness as a weapon. The closer they are to you, the more disturbing your unhappiness feels to them. You know this unconsciously until you wake up to what you are up to within. You use the disturbing influence of your unhappiness to prod them into acting on your behalf.

Paying attention to your thoughts and feelings reveals that your feelings attune you to your perspectives. Thus, living in feelings of gratitude begins to reveal all that you have to feel grateful for. Practice feeling gratitude long enough and you see no reason not to feel grateful for everything.

When you express feelings of disappointment, those feelings attune you to a perspective that reveals only the costs, the losses that you must suffer. In every situation you have gains and losses. Disappointment tunes you into the losses and gratitude tunes you into the gains. Both perspectives are true, but you get to live in the truth you choose.

Negative feelings deprive you of inspiring, empowering points of view. You live in your view. You experience what you are aware of. Feelings of disappointment lead you into a sorry reality. The longer you live in disappointment, the stronger and deeper it grows. As that occurs, you experience more and more loss in your life.

Feelings are contagious. The stronger your feeling of disappointment the more it draws everyone around you into similarly negative feeling states. Individuals who want to feel happy, who want to experience success and abundance and freedom, will avoid you or leave you alone. Those who remain with you will increasingly resent you as they feel themselves being sucked into a reality, a life, a world that fails them.

Using feelings of disapproval and dissatisfaction to manipulate others works just like disappointment. In disapproval, all you can see and feel is wrong. In feelings of dissatisfaction all you can see and feel is displeasing. You cut yourself off from the infinite good ever-present in the now by dwelling on anxious feelings of dread as well, and using that to get your way.

When you feel disturbed in any way, let that feeling be. Don't hold onto it. Don't use it to get your way. It will naturally pass on its own into peace if you let it go. Do not resist it. And definitely do not identify it as the way you truly feel, as the only reasonable or right way to feel, or as a necessary way to feel.

Take deep, relaxing breaths. Gently ease yourself into peace, into truly peaceful acceptance of and trust in whatever is. Stop telling yourself what is wrong with what is happening and just open your mind and heart to experience the good available to your right now. The good begins with a feeling; it is your natural way of feeling when you do not impose unhappiness upon yourself.

That's right, you impose unhappiness upon yourself whenever you feel unhappy. You are naturally happy, loving, kind, trusting. You are naturally in a state of harmony. You don't have to make yourself feel in harmony. You just have to observe how you make yourself feel distressed. When you see how you do that, you can stop it. So the real key to inner freedom is the practice of directing your awareness within, to see how you treat yourself.

Growing self-awareness automatically leads you into healing feelings of peace. Your inner peace grows by small degrees the more you allow yourself to live in it. The more you choose it. In feelings peace, feelings of love, gratitude, faith, success and fulfillment grow, and these you attune you to realities that reinforce, nurture and expand these healthy and contented feeling states. You will soon see every reason to feel this good and no more reason to feel worse. You will discover more and more things going your way, more of what you want coming your way, including the support, assistance, understanding, sensitivity, care, and cooperation you used to futilely rely on negative manipulation tactics to bring you.

How to Write Description Essays

By Sarah Brodie

This is because descriptive essays are lucid explanations and descriptions. They use sensory details to appeal to readers. They are usually the personal experience of an individual and a means of expressing the individual's attitude and temperament. Consequently essays in this genre are normally subjective. However they could also be objective. Descriptive essays can be about a person, a place, an experience, an object and so on.

The first thing to do before you actually get down to writing a descriptive paper is to try and figure out your reason for the essay. Once you do this you can fashion your paper in such a way as to optimize the effectiveness of your paper. In other words what is the dominant impression that you wish to create in your essay. From the dominant impression will evolve your thesis statement.

The body of your essay should focus on the particular qualities of the object you wish to focus on. In order to accentuate these qualities in a manner that will appeal to your readers you should describe the sights, sounds, smells and everything else that involve the senses and appeal to the readers' emotions.

Let us suppose that you have decided to write a descriptive essay about your grandmother. And suppose you want to describe her frail appearance and the way in which she relates with all her grandchildren. The way you should go about it is by not focusing on generic aspects of frailty and relationships. In a descriptive treatise you will picture for the reader as graphically as possible the way the old woman ambles. You should make it possible for the readers to picture a wiry old woman spending time with all her grandchildren. Your readers should be able to visualize the grey haired lady making an effort to shower her grandchildren with love.

"Show, don't tell". That should be your guiding tenet while writing a descriptive paper. So if you are writing about your grandmother, describe the texture of her wrinkled skin, the shimmer of her silver hair, her feeble voice, her stooping figure. Use sounds, smells and textures and so on that are easy to picture and go directly to the heart. That way your writing appeals to the emotions of your readers and has them deeply involved.

Description essays follow the same general structure as do other essays. So when writing a descriptive essay, try to stick to this structure. In the introduction tell the reader what the focus of your essay is going to be and what aspects of the object you will be focusing on. In the body of the paper describe places, people and events in vivid manner. Delve into the subject in as much detail as possible. Describe the whole thing as you have seen it. Use words that appeal to the senses. And in the conclusion restate the essence of your thesis and summarize your thoughts.
Writing a descriptive essay is not always easy. Hence you may be required to draft and redraft till it shapes out the way you want it to.

Cotton On To Organic Clothing

By Lisa Jackson

With 1st December nearly upon us and those Christmas shopping days few and far between, panic is setting in already... not only is the dreaded date fast approaching, but these days, with the amount of pressure from every angle to do the right thing ethically and environmentally, shopping for gifts can be fraught with stress. Buying clothing for babies, children and even adults as Christmas presents is now even easier with large lines available in stores and even supermarkets, and the time-saving temptation of throwing gifts in with the weekly shop can be so alluring but the reality is that although you may not carry the cost for bargain clothing, those involved in the manufacturing processes certainly do.

Organic clothing may seem an unattainable, elusive and unnecessary option, particularly at times when quantity rather than quality is more pressing, for example, buying children's school uniforms and clothing fast-growing babies, but it is exactly at these times that organic cotton and even bamboo clothing should be a serious option. GM and conventional cotton is responsible for a whopping 16 percent of annual global pesticide use, with over $2 billion worth of highly toxic chemicals sprayed on cotton every year. Virtually all cotton (99%) is grown in developing countries, and pesticides used to treat the crops are responsible for 3 million poisoning cases every year. Not only this, but cotton farming can be highly abusive with record numbers of exploited workers, in particular women and children. As well as the effects of agricultural poisons and poor working conditions on these labourers and their families and the toxic effects on the local environment, once the cotton is manufactured and turned into clothing for us to wear, these highly toxic pesticides actually remain, even after many washes, causing no end of possible health risks. For people, particularly children, susceptible to allergic reactions caused by industrial toxins, the choice of wearing organically produced clothing is essential to their health and comfort.

Organic clothing has been shown to be beneficial to sufferers of skin conditions such as eczema, presumably because of the absence of these highly noxious substances, which can include organophosphates and even cyanide. It's estimated that around 17 teaspoons of fertilizers and one of active ingredients are used for every average sized T-shirt - with 60% of what we put onto our skin actually absorbed into it, why on earth would we want to choose anything less for ourselves and our families than the purest, softest and ethical materials for their clothing?

Whilst shopping for organic cotton clothing may seem a little daunting in our fast paced have-it-all consumerist society, there are many wonderful manufacturers out there, producing children's and babies' clothing from fairly traded, non-toxic organic cotton, so maybe with Christmas approaching, this might be the time to take the plunge and choose one or two special items as gifts which can be treasured and worn guilt-free into the next year. Tatty Bumpkin has a lovely organic cotton range for children aged 1-7 incorporating little motifs based on yoga moves, such as a lion, bee, frog and sun. Each item comes with a little card explaining the yoga move associated with the image. The Cat's Tail range of organic cotton clothing is equally as attractive, ethical and long-lasting.

It's not just cotton that can be ethical and beautiful - unique bamboo clothing by Bam introduces a range of men's and women's organic clothing made from sustainable and naturally breathable, antibacterial bamboo fibres to the highest fair trade policies. All these ranges are available on mail order this Christmas through www.buyorganics.co.uk and can be gift wrapped to help save time and give that personal touch. And, for every item of Bam organic clothing bought via www.buyorganics.co.uk a tree will be planted. Buying someone or even yourself, something made from an ethical material which hasn't contributed to poverty or harmed the environment could be the most special gift you give this Christmas.

Vigorelle as a Female Sex Stimulant or Viagra? How Vigorelle Compares

By Kani Oglee

What it would be like for a woman to take Viagra? For men, it's purpose is to increase blood flow to a semi-rigid male organ which does not perform well unless it's made substantially firmer.
Once that obstacle has been overcome then optimum performance can occur. Now you may wonder, what does that have to do with a woman's organ(s)? In this context, Not much, yet.

The active ingredient in Viagra is sildenafil. Some researchers surmise that sildenafil could have similar effects in women - the erectile tissue of the clitoris would engorge with blood through the same mechanism. The pharmaceutical company Pfizer (which formulated Viagra) has run tests on women to see what sildenafil's effects would be. Consequently, no solid conclusions were drawn. Equivalent attempts to mimic Viagra have also been run by other companies but the results have also been inconclusive.

Enter Vigorelle. In hindsight, the focus has been primarily on men's sexual performance (and the resulting pleasure of such). Massive attention to this has resulted in a multitude of prescription drugs and over-the-counter natural supplements and herbs. Again, for men only.
Eventually, a few companies began to realize that women have similar needs (and desires) as well. This has resulted in the availability of products like Vigorelle that work in the same manner. These are creams that stimulate and heighten a woman's sensitivity which lead to more powerful and satisfying orgasms. Even better, they don't require ingestion and the range of side effects that can occur.

Viagra is known to cause skin flushes, headaches, indigestion, and muscle pain. Other symptoms (from higher doses) can include visual problems such as seeing a haze around objects. Prolonged and long lasting painful erections (priapism) can happen which is kind of an overshoot of what the initial plan was. Those on heart medications or who use other substances containing or cut with nitrates can experience serious lowering of blood pressure or other drug related interactions. Viagra is a prescription medication.

Non-prescription topical creams like this are used on the outside of the body and work through skin penetration or what's known as transdermal delivery. With this method, the ingredients can be safely enhanced by combining botanical extracts and therapeutic nutrients which can greatly enhance sexual sensations in a woman's body. Add to those skin permeation enhancers such as L-Arginine HCL and you get fast, effective absorption of key herbal ingredients into the female lymphatic system. This all sounds pretty technical but the end result is what matters - the opportunity for a woman to finally achieve orgasm without having to fake it.

Kani Oglee site spends hours, days, combing within and outside the internet finding and posting information specifically on target to the topic.

7 Reasons To Take Your Kids On A Road Trip

By Damaria Senne

Recently, I've impulsively taken my daughter on a couple of road trips. For simplicity's sake, I chose destinations which were new to her, far enough to make the venture worthwhile but close enough to travel about ten hours maximum.

To keep the costs down, we traveled by coach, rather than flying or driving. Here are some of the benefits I learnt to appreciate while we were on the road trips:

1. The trips add some new and fun to our lives -No longer are we restricted to being city-bound on weekends. If we don't have plans, we can pack up a large cooler bag, hop on a bus and see where it takes us.

2. Keeping in touch with family and friends - If we have friends or family at the other side of the trip, we make the time to visit with them for a while.

3. Time to bond - Travelling together in an enclosed space provides me with the oportunity to learn the details of my daughter's life that I miss in the hustle and bustle of normal life. Also, she can't run away to her room if she doesn't like the conversation, and I can't claim that I'm working when she wants attention. All this helps us grow closer together.

4. See the country on a budget - We choose a top of the line bus for comfort. Still, it's much cheaper than driving or catching a plane. Also, we keep to a strict budget on the trip, bringing some of the food and drinks we'll need, rather than buying along the way.

5. Getting to know the country - The trips have helped my daughter experience parts of South Africa that she would otherwise not have seen until she's grown. Hopefully, it will help with her geography lessons at school, and teach her to appreciate the various aspects of the country she was born to.

6. It's time to rest, recharge - Road trips give us both the time to rest and recharge our batteries. While we're on the trip, our life along with its assorted joys and challenges, is left behind. We need only worry about this trip, this moment. It's a very restful sensation.

7. There is entertainment - We also take along books to read and some electronic gadgets to play with if and when boredom seeps in. The bus line also plays a number of movies, keeping us entertained.

While planning your road trip, keep the following issues in mind:

Make sure the trip does not conflict with prior plans -You know you do not want to be trapped in a bus with a sulking child who is determined not to have fun, no matter what you do.

Small kids do not do well in enclosed spaces- If you have small children / active children who need space to move around, a trip on a bus may not be a good idea. Traveling by RV might be the better option, as it gives your family the space they need.

Keep the costs down - Unless you specifically budgeted for the trip, keep the costs (excluding the fare) to almost the same range as you would spend if you stayed home for the weekend.

Living With The Ear In An American Idol World

By April Lorier

It is both a blessing and a curse for the musician who has "the ear". It's a rarity, and any musician who has "the ear" brags about it ad nauseam. It's like having a pitch pipe built into his ear which enables him to hum, at random, any note perfectly on pitch. All of the great composers of our history had it, and it made their tasks much simpler. Barbara Streisand and Celine Dion both have "perfect pitch", which makes them intolerant of those who do not have it (and difficult to work with).

The worst thing you could do to a musician with perfect pitch is to make them sit through the qualifying weeks of "American Idol". I cannot stand hearing the wanna-be-singers ruining songs I have known and loved for decades! My gift of perfect pitch turns into a curse as I violently react to these contestants! It can be a curse to have "the ear".

As I listen to the rhetoric during this campaign season, there are candidates who say all the right things, but they are not "on pitch". Something is off and I can hear it. And when my children, old as they are, try to pull the wool over Mama's eyes with parsed words including just enough truth to technically not be a lie, or they deliberately eliminate all of the story, "the ear" hears the disparity. (They still haven't figured out how I usually know they're not being totally truthful!)
It's the same for a Christian who, through years of spiritual growth combined with the walking-out of Christian Faith, hears professing Christians quote passages from the Bible in order to make their own points. Something in my well-trained spiritual ear doesn't ring true. It's "off pitch". Sometimes it takes a while to figure out exactly what's wrong, and other times it just hits me like a pie in the face.

I think of "that time" spoken of in 2 Peter 2:1-3 (NKJV) "there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them-bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2 Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. 3 In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up."

Or in 2 Timothy 2:2-4 (NIV) Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage-with great patience and careful instruction. (3) For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. (4) They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

Without naming any names, may I say it seems to me that we are living in that time? I have never before heard so many teachers teaching myths that will scratch the itching ears of large audiences attending "spiritual seminars" in this country. Oh, I would expect it of other countries, but the United States of America? The country founded on Judeo-Christian Principles? The country who, by far, sends out more missionaries to other countries to feed, clothe, dig water wells for those in need, and share The Gospel of Jesus Christ with those who have never heard?

One has only to listen to PBS for a week to hear the most famous of these false prophets (and also the richest). Likewise, one has only to tune in to the "name it and claim it" preachers decked out in their enormously expensive clothes, standing in their mega churches where they arrived in their extravagant cars to wonder what's happened to the Truth of One who never owned a single possession in His thirty-three years on this earth.

Don't get me wrong! I'm not advocating poverty as a badge of one's commitment to the Lord! I grew up in a parsonage where no maintenance was ever performed, and I wore hand-me-downs from church members' children because we were too poor to have proper health care, much less new clothes! I don't believe God was pleased by the church's philosophy of "We'll keep him poor so You can keep him humble, Lord", either!

But listening to these so-called "Spiritual Teachers" of today affects me in the same way as does listening to American Idol contestants singing severely off pitch! Righteous indignation rises up within me and if I allow it, it will upset me for days. One of my sons asked, "Mom, you know what the Bible says it will be like in the end times, so why should it upset you so much when you see it happening? Isn't it just a given?"

My answer is always the same: God is a jealous God, and I am His daughter. I share His trait of jealousy when it comes to idols, false doctrines, heresies, and false teachers. I am jealous for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

All the way back in the Old Testament God's jealousy is talked about.(Psalms) They angered him with their high places; they aroused his jealousy with their idols. (Or) For they provoked Him to anger with their high places, And moved Him to jealousy with their carved images. (Or) How long, O LORD ? Will you be angry forever? How long will your jealousy burn like fire?
There are hundreds of references to God being jealous (or zealous) for His name, His people, His ways.

In Romans 10, Paul said: For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. (3 )Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. (4) Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

In 2 Corinthians 11, Paul said to the Christians at Corinth: I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I feel the same way! It grieves me to no end to think of the "itching ears" that are being led astray by opportunistics who care nothing for the souls in their audiences. When that day comes that we all stand before The Judge, Jesus Christ, will these mislead souls be able to say, "But we were taught..." Will that be acceptable to the One who said He was THE Way, THE Truth, and THE Light?

Like I said, having "the ear", both musically and spiritually, is a blessing that feels like a curse sometimes. "Ignorance is bliss" sometimes seems true in this sojourner's life. But then I have to ask myself if having "the ear" carries a responsibility with it? I think the answer must be a resounding yes! And so I ask God today for the courage to stay "on pitch" in this world of American Idols. Amen.

Want To Know How To Get Your Ex To Break Up With New Girlfriend?

By Chase Brooks

Is this what you're after? If so, chances are you're going down a messy path. Winning back your Ex? It's possible. Making your ex lose interest in someone else? That's highly unlikely. Here's why...

If someone tried to make you lose interest in your ex, what chances do they have? Will they have a magic potion they'll slip into your drink that kills all your emotions for them? No.

Your goal is to change someone else's mind. In other words, your goal is set inside someone else's boundaries.

If you want to win a marathon race you train really, really hard. If you want to run a successful business you stay dedicated to it and make the right decisions. All of these are within your control.

What someone else thinks is never in your control. If you try to make your ex break up with their new girlfriend by demeaning and making her look bad, chances are you're going to come out of it looking like a complete psycho. Trust me, you'll kill your chances.

However, let's look at it another way. Can you choose to stop liking your ex? No. What is it about him? Is it his attractive body? A killer sense of humour? Maybe you can't put your finger on it, but it's there. You didn't choose to like him.

The same applies for him. He might be going out with this new girl because he wants to get over you. He dated you at some point, didn't he? That's because he found you attractive.

If you can make yourself attractive to him once again, you can win him back. If you're lucky he might even break up with his new girlfriend just to be with you again.

Even if he doesn't, you're going to make yourself feel better. You'll feel more attractive and you might even find a new man. If you want him to break up with his new girlfriend because you want pay back, dating and moving on from him is the best revenge.

Going through all this effort just to either make him unhappy or to make him available again isn't going to work, and you'll just look like an ass. I assume you want to get back into his good books again, but trying to sabotage his future relationships is going to make him avoid you at all costs.

Start dating again and get him off your mind. Keep your life busy and make yourself more attractive by showing him that you don't need him. Send him an e-mail now and then just to ask how he's doing so that he won't forget about you, but don't go beyond that.

If you keep the e-mails casual and become friends with him again, chances are he'll want to start spending time with you. If you're lucky, he might even want more. Even if he doesn't, you'll still be dating other guys and you might find one that's even better.

If you don't put all your eggs in one basket you're going to find yourself happier. By dating other guys you're going to experience and learn about new people, and you'll also have the chance to win your ex back if you keep in contact.

You might want to do anything to get your ex back, but keep it to changing yourself only. Trying to interfere with other people's lives will come back to haunt you sooner or later.

Want to learn some amazing techniques that will almost certainly win your Ex back? Or do you simply want to take control of your love life for good?

Check Out Chase's blog for a free break-up e-book and simple secrets that can win him or her back into your arms.

What Perpetrators and Child Survivors Think of Child Sexual Abuse

By Jane Gilgun

Perpetrators rarely think of child sexual abuse as abuse. Instead, they think sexual abuse is love, affection, a thrill, a high, play, comfort, a teaching moment, or payback.

For many, sexual abuse is love. Perpetrators may become angry and disgusted when they hear that someone else is sexually abusing children. "String them up!" they say. In their minds, what they do is love while what others do is abuse. Those who seek thrills and highs experience sex with children as the greatest feeling in the world. They would do anything to get the high that sex with children gives them.

Those for whom sexual abuse is play giggle and joke about the sexual touching they do or have the children do to them. They may play games like "You show me yours, and I'll show you mine." Many men who abuse boys establish a kind of "buddy" relationship with the boys where "horsing" around lead to sexual contact.

Sex abuse is comfort. For these perpetrators, sex with children is a "fix"-it fixes their mood when they are feeling bad. Others say the only time they feel good is when they are being sexual with children.

Sometimes perpetrators believe that sexual abuse comforts children. For them, life is hard, and they think it is hard for some children. They seek children who appear sad to them. Sex abuse becomes an act of kindness. Still others see themselves as teaching children, often their own biological children, how to make love. They would rather that their children learn from them rather than some scruffy teenager.

Some are rough and mean, deliberately hurting children. They believe children deserve to be hurt and damaged. They may confuse children with other people who have hurt them, and they think they have a right to take revenge on children. Children are scapegoats.

Children Understand Sexual Behaviors Differently
Children do not understand sexual behaviors in the ways that perpetrators do. Children do not have the experience or the emotional and cognitive development to do so.

For instance, a thirteen year-old girl believed that her uncle was trying to love her. She said, "I didn't like him the way I like boys." Sexual acts are a mystery to children. A girl whose grandfather abused her for six years, starting when she was three, said, "Grandpa used to do it on the boat. He had sort of a grin on his face. White stuff came out." Another girl, had a similar description about a stranger who molested her: "He took a towel and started wiping me down.
There was white stuff on it." Another girl said her teenage babysitter sort of did push-ups on her.

A six year-old boy told his mother that the anal penetration a fourteen year-old neighbor had perpetrated on him for a year and a half was "how I was made."

These examples show that children do not understand sexuality and sexual abuse the way adults do. They also do not understand that perpetrators take advantage of them. They do not understand adult sexual and emotional gratification. What adults want from them is beyond their comprehension. Children are confused and hurt by sexual acts, whether done by people they know, trust, like, and love or by strangers.

Perpetrators Have Sole Responsibility
Children also do not realize that perpetrators have sole responsibility for sexual abuse. Quite a few adults do not realize this either, and children may be blamed and stigmatized for being sexually abused. At an early age, children learn to blame themselves.

Nothing about children causes sexual abuse. All children are vulnerable to being sexually abused. Those who are sexually abused have the misfortune to be in the presence of perpetrators, and there is no one there to protect them. Children with disabilities that limit their capacities to communicate are especially vulnerable to sexual abuse.

The Best Case Scenario
The best case scenario for survivor recovery is the caring, supportive response of their families and friends. Children recover well when children are surrounded by people who love them, believe them when they say someone abused them sexually, and do not blame them. Children's recovery depends upon empathy, understanding, and education about the true nature of child sexual abuse.

Another important aspect of recovery occurs when others hold perpetrators responsible and accountable for their own behaviors. Accountability means that perpetrators take responsibility for the abuse, accept the consequences for their actions, seek the help they require to stop themselves from sexually abusing again, and apologize to the children and any other persons they have harmed.

Such actions are rare, but when they do happen, children's recovery is given a huge boost. Child survivors are relieved from the guilt, shame, and stigma that are part of being sexually abused. The adults in their lives have evidence in the words and actions of perpetrators that perpetrators alone are responsible, not the children, and that the perpetrators' behaviors hurt the children.

Children can and do recover when perpetrators do not take responsibility, but the road to recovery is made more smooth when they do.

When perpetrators take responsibility, the possibility that they can change their behaviors opens up. They then can report their behaviors truthfully to law enforcement and the courts, can hear what survivors and others whom they have hurt have to say, they can engage g in sex offender treatment, therapy, and they can accept the consequences of their behaviors. When they plead guilty, they relieve survivors of the difficult task of testifying court and enduring cross-examinations.

This is no easy thing for perpetrators to do, but those who take responsibility and stick with it have reason to hope that they can get their lives back and be in a better place. Sadly, some abusers swing back and forth between taking responsibility and blaming others. This hurts survivors and themselves. Such wavering also puts them at high risk to sexually abuse again.

Perpetrators Take Advantage of Children

Over time, recovery means that the survivors understand that someone--often someone they loved and trusted-took advantage of them. Recovery means that survivors understand that perpetrators hurt them psychologically and sexually. They have learned from their own experience that they have capacities to cope with, adapt to, and overcome the effects of the abuse. They deal with and reject the myths that they are "damaged good," dirty, and shameful. They know that they are good persons who other people hurt. They respect themselves and expect respect from others.

When survivors work through the effects of abuse, they have sought and responded to the help of many other people. Often this involves professional help along with meaningful conversations with trustworthy friends and family members. Survivors cannot grapple with the effects of child sexual abuse with the love and support of other people.

Survivors adapt to being survivors. They do not forget that they survived sexual abuse. Being a survivor has become part of who they are, but only one aspect of themselves, a part of themselves that helps them to connect with others who are hurt. Survivors who have accepted the fact of being sexually abused have great capacities for empathy, compassion, and encouragement of others. They understand how complex being alive is, with opportunities for joy, sorrow, rage, and living the everydayness of life with hope and dignity. They live full and rich lives based on their capacities to cope with, adapt to, and overcomes the effects of the abuse.

Some survivors live their lifetimes hurt by the effects of child sexual abuse. If they have other hard times in their lives, overcoming the effects of the abuse is much harder. Some people live their entire lives believing they are bad people when in reality other people have hurt them and these other people have not taken responsibility for their own behaviors. Other survivors are well into adulthood before they find the empathy and understanding that enables them to talk about being sexual abused. This brings them relief and emotional freedom.

Wireless Networks Opening Up To Promote Business & Competition

By Derek Bailey

With the Announcement by Verizon on November 27th, 2007 a change will be coming to the wireless network industry. For many years now wireless companies have used their buying power to make deals for themselves, and leave the open market out of reach for customers. If you wanted the newest cell phone, PDA, or Bluetooth device you had to wait for your company to provide it and the cost were normally outrageous.

Wireless networks in basic terms means the way electronic products can connect to phones, servers and networks. With Verizon opening up its wireless network to all electronics that can pass its basic compatibility test, means that the customer now has the power to drive the market. Businesses will also benefit from the wireless network news by now being able to contact customers with news of their device or feature. The business will have to have it certified with Verizon, but then may market to the public.

In an example here is the timeline involving Motorola's SLVR L7C a sleek phone that was released by Motorola left customers waiting for its release by the cell phone companies. Sprint didn't make this phone available through its shops until November 2006, and in a review was described as being "finally released". Then in January of the next year Verizon made the same phone available on its wireless network. This delay could have been avoided with the new idea from Verizon by simply incorporating the standards for compliance in the build process, and having it reviewed to insure compatibility with the wireless network. In the end it is time for wireless network companies to market and work for the consumer.

If you search for forums looking for news on electronics and cell phones for wireless networks you will find many people waiting for the newest phones and gadgets, and discussions on compatibility. One poster on howardforums.com posted this concerning the Motorola phone listed above; "Is Verizon going to ever offer this phone (SLVR L7) for their carrier?"

While we as customers are familiar with cell-phones and PDA's being marketed in the advertising market, it mainly revolved around a few products that were already approved by and contracted with companies such as Verizon.

This opening of the wireless networks should happen for some companies by the middle of 2008, and with Verizon happening at some point in latter part of 2008.

While you do this, I want you to concentrate on the exercise and imagine the way your body fat is burning away.

Minute 3: Rapid biceps curls. Use two light dumbbells (5 pounds each is the maximum) and do biceps curls one hand at a time as fast as you can. I know that in the gym you usually do weight exercises slowly. That's the way to do it in order to increase muscle mass. The reason we do this fast is to lose as much body fat as possible. You'll feel you arms burning with strain. Just think to yourself that you're losing body fat with each curl.

Minute 4: Sprint in place. I want you to sprint as fast as you can where you stand. Make sure to swing your arms when you do this. This is very difficult to do and you may feel out of breath. I want you to push through the pain and keep thinking that you are losing more and more body fat.

Minute 5: Shoulder thrusts. Take the light dumbbells, stand with your feet apart and knees slightly bent with the dumbbells at shoulders level. Now thrust them up over your head as fast as you can. If this becomes too difficult, do it without the dumbbells. You will still feel the intensity of this massive exercise.

Minute 6: Another minute of jumping rope. The same as you did in minute 2. Imagine a calorie counter in your head racing up. These are the calories you're burning with each jump.

Minute 7: Squat and jump. I want you to do squats and when you return to your starting position, to jump high and bring your knees as close to your chest as possible. This exercises alone is worth a lot of calories each day.

Minute 8: Bicep curls again. Imagine yourself 2 weeks from now looking much leaner after you've lost all that body fat.

Minute 9: Sprinting in place, the same as minute 4. Chant in your head: "I am losing body fat. I am losing body fat, " at the pace of the sprinting you're doing. You're nearly over and doing so well.

Minute 10: Squat and Jump. The same as minute 7. By this time you will feel almost wiped out. I want you to try to give it one more small push. You will lose more body fat faster because of it.

Minute 11: Shoulder thrusts again. The same as minute no. 5. Think to yourself, I'm almost done. I've burned a lot of body fat.

My Experience in Burkina Faso

By David Swanson

The day begins early enough, up at 5:30am, shower, dress, and breakfast on the porch at 6am sharp. Breakfast is the same everyday; oatmeal, fresh bread, (fetched from across the busy street), and delicious sliced fresh fruit from the local outdoor market. The weather? Well, it's going to be another hot one, at least over 100 degrees with high humidity. The sky is gray and overcast, not because of clouds, but from smoke, and exhaust created by the immense amount of traffic moving through the chaotic streets, burning trash, and the wood burning stoves of street venders preparing meals for the day.

This is my first trip to Burkina Faso, West Africa. I can't believe I'm finally here after being invited over and over by my brother who has been coming to the country for the past 25 years ministering to the Burkinabe people.

Burkina Faso, which was once known as Upper Volta, is one of the poorest countries in the world. The country was colonized by the French in the late 1800's. The name change to Burkina Faso came in 1960 when it gained independence from France. With a high population density and limited resources, most of the region remains economically suppressed. Islam has had a long history in Burkina Faso and represents around 55% of the population. Christianity has a smaller presence which is around 10% of the population.

My purpose for coming to Burkina Faso was to experience and see first hand the needs of the Burkinabe people. Aside from the basic needs for survival, like food and water, there are several other areas in which ministries can provide help to the people. The "Raise the Roof" ministry (a term coined by the Burkinabe), was one of the first ministries started in Burkina Faso. A new metal roof costing up to $1200 is placed on top of a church building that has been built of hand made mud bricks by the Burkinabe. The church once outfitted with a new roof will provide shade from the sun and the dry environment during the rare rains. Many pastors will pray for one of these roofs for several years before their prayers are answered.

The main staple, sagabou, in Burkina Faso is made from millet and sorghum. The growing season is from May through September. During this time they must have rain to help the crops grow. This past season the rain came late and was not enough. It came down in torrents and flooded some areas and washed away some homes and churches. It also washed away some of the crops. Most Burkinabe will eat a meal once a day and the meal is normally Sagabou with some variations and sauces. This year the main need of the Burkinabe will be food. Money raised from donations will buy several thousand pounds of millet and sorghum. A five pound bag may last a family of four up to a month if they have only one meal a day.

One thing I did experience while in Burkina Faso was the amazing love and faith of the Christians there. They have barely enough to survive, but what they have they will share with you knowing and trusting that God will provide for them. They are a joyful people. Their joy is contagious and comes from the Lord.
